Biography

Gita Wirjawan, Chairman of Ancora Group, founded in 2007, has held significant roles in both business and public service. He served as Indonesia’s Minister of Trade and Chairman of its Investment Coordinating Board, along with chairing a 159-nation WTO ministerial conference in 2012 aimed at reducing global trade barriers. Notably, he led Indonesia’s national badminton association from 2012 to 2016, during which Indonesia achieved remarkable success in international competitions.

With a background in investment banking, Gita held key positions at Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan, overseeing mergers, corporate restructuring, and strategic sales in Southeast Asia. He served on various boards, including Pertamina and Axiata Group Berhad. He currently sits on the international advisory board of Chubb, the world’s largest publicly traded property and casualty insurance company.

Gita hosts the educational podcast “Endgame,” advocating for Southeast Asia’s growth and prosperity. He is affiliated with Stanford University, University of Nottingham, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and Harvard Kennedy School, focusing his research on Southeast Asia’s nation-building directionality.

Additionally, Gita is a member of the Angsana Council, dedicated to advancing regional businesses and economies, and collaborates with global advisory firm Macro Advisory Partners.

He holds degrees from Harvard Kennedy School (MPA), Baylor University (MBA), and University of Texas at Austin (BSc).
